Did you know?
Because I was born prematurely, I have two birthdays! Yup, TWO! One is my chronological birthday, the day I was born and the other, my adjusted or corrected birthday, is when I was supposed to be due. My adjusted age helps doctors evaluate my growth and development.
How does this work, you ask? Here's how it works:
Today, I am 10 months old (from the day of my birth, which was February 20th). But since I was born 16 weeks (4 months) early, my adjusted age would be 10 months minus 4 months, which is 6 months.
It's a pretty easy concept, right? It can get confusing though, I know. But with this adjusted age, mommy and daddy can keep track of all my milestones as I reach them! Sometimes when strangers ask mommy and daddy how old I am, they have to stop and think. Even THEY get confused sometimes! Not a lot of people understand what it means to be a preemie, so mommy usually tells them my adjusted age...because I look a little younger than my chronological age...and she wants to avoid the 20 questions from strangers.
But if you are on this site, then that means that you are close family and friends of me, mommy, and daddy. So you probably know the whole story by now!

SO...
On my 1st birthday, I would be an adjusted age of 8 months. Will I see you at my party next month? ^_^
