November is "Prematurity Awareness Month".
According to the March of Dimes, "prematurity has been escalating steadily and alarmingly over the past two decades. 1 out of 8 babies is born prematurely in the United States." That's a really high percentage and it is scary to know how common it is nowadays. Mommy was really healthy when she was pregnant with me. There was really no known cause for her preterm labor. The doctor told her that her cervix was shortened and "incompetent", but even the cause of that was unknown. My prematurity caused a lot of physical and emotional stress on my family. Although my outcome was good (after 159 long days in the NICU), I don't wish this upon any family out there.
Mommy and daddy are very supportive of the March of Dimes and their efforts to save babies and children through research, education, support for families, and funding.

The March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign is a multimillion-dollar research, awareness and education effort that helps families have healthier babies.
