Today marks the most anticipated day...I finally get to go home! After 159 LONG days in the NICU, I will get to join the rest of my family at home! Now mommy and daddy won't have to drive to come see me and hold me and kiss me and hug me and...and...oh man. So exciting!!
Mommy and daddy were a little late to come see me because mommy was working on gifts to give to my awesome associate nurses! (Hopefully they like it!)
Mommy brought my bright red Peg Perego carseat a few days ago and left it for Lisa E., my night nurse, to put me to the "carseat challenge". They would have to buckle me into the seat and make sure that my vitals were okay for the duration of my ride home, which was about 30 minutes. No problem! I was already off my oxygen, my IV's were out and I was ready to hit the road...back home! Carseat challenge was a breeze and passed it with ease!
Lisa N. was going to discharge me today. So things were a little hectic because there was so much to do. While mommy went to the pharmacy to get all of my medications, daddy held me so that I could get my hearing tested. I think it was a little too loud for them to be screening my hearing in the NICU room. Other babies' parents/visitors were coming in and out, doctors were doing rounds, nurses were shouting across the room, and of course, babies were crying! No wonder I couldn't concentrate! Unfortunately, I only passed in my left ear...but I knew that my hearing was okay. (I could always hear mommy and daddy come and leave...) But I would have to get screened later on as an outpatient, they said.
Even after all that I had been through, with the surgeries and being on the ventilator, I was fortunate enough not to go home on ANY oxygen or monitor! I was being sent home on a few medications to help with my reflux and jaundice: Actigall, Reglan, Fer-en-sol iron supplement, Vitamin D supplement & AquaDEKS multivitamins. The only major "equipment" I was going home with was the gastrostomy feeding tube that was placed after my stomach surgery. My surgeon thought it'd be good to have just in case I couldn't tolerate increased volumes of my feeding. Since mommy was at the hospital everyday, she was comfortable enough to take care of me and the G-tube at home. Dr. Gholizadeh said that I could probably switch over to the mic-key button later on so that the tube wouldn't be in my way.
Anyhow, after all was said and done, it was close to 6:30pm. We wrapped things up, packed up ALL my belongings, and we were on our way OUT of the NICU. Daddy carried me in my carseat from the 2nd floor of the NICU to the lobby. Lisa N. and mommy waited on the bench while daddy pulled up in the "Jordan-mobile". ^_^ This was the first time for me to breathe the air outside! How nice it felt! It was so bright out here!

It has been such a long journey. Day 159. And I'm finally going home!!!! Yay!!!!!!
