Monkey Madness: 2nd Birthday Party

A month after my originally scheduled party, I was finally able to celebrate my 2nd birthday with family and friends. We had to reschedule it in the first place because of my hospitalization at CHOC last month for bronchiolitis. It was not fun being in the hospital but I'm glad I'm better now! I just have to be careful during the cold winter season!

This year's theme was MONKEYS!!! I love monkeys too but it was more for my mommy, who was born in the year of the monkey AND it was her 30th birthday! It all worked out though because monkeys are my best jungle friends!! Monkey stuffed animals, monkey balloons, monkey figurines, monkey favors...everywhere you looked, there was sure to be a monkey there!! We had games for our guests to play and the kids were able to pull on the pinata strings for some cool candy and some healthy snacks.

Mommy and daddy hired a taco guy to cater the event too and boy, was it yummy!! (Thanks to Auntie Rosa for being our Spanish-speaking liaison!) Carne asada and chicken meat with all the garnishings! We also had empanadas, lumpia and our usual yummy Chinese food from Peking Wok just in case the tacos weren't enough! Mommy also put together a candy station with cool chocolates, toys, and Japanese candy for our guests to take home.

I fell asleep when it was time to do the pinata but I think they were okay without me. Well actually, I was asleep for the cake too...but Daddy helped me out and blew the candles out for me! I'm a growing boy so I need my naps, ya know! I'm just glad I got to see everyone and I am grateful to have these people in my life.

Each birthday is a big deal to me and my parents since my chance of survival past my 1st birthday was slim. Now look at me! Who woulda thought that I was born at 24 weeks and weighed only 1lb12ozs? Crazy, isn't it? Thank you to everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to come celebrate this milestone with me. Hopefully, my family and I will get to see everyone more often during the year. But if not, mark your calendars for the big THREE next year! woohoo! What theme will mommy come up with next????
