Professor Jordan

As you all already know, I was diagnosed with having Retinopathy of Prematurity when I was still in the NICU. I had laser surgery back in May of 2008 and luckily, my retinas are perfectly normal now, thanks to Dr. Sanford Chen and Dr. Bogdan Alexandrescu.

Recently, I went in for a second opinion with a pediatric opthalmologist and just as we all thought, I would be needing glasses for my near-sightedness. When I was initially diagnosed with R.O.P., near-sightedness was one of the major issues that I was told I may have to deal with. I would also be at risk to getting cataracts, retinal detachment, and even going blind in the future.
But that's why I will be followed up by an opthalmologist for the rest of my life. That's a long time, isn't it? My new doctor is Dr. David Sami and he is a very funny doctor. He is part of the CHOC faculty so I feel really comfortable being seen by him.
I received a prescription for my glasses from my doctor and mommy went right to work. She called up and visited as many optometrists as she could possibly find in our area and ultimately found Dr. Josephine Vu in La Habra, right next to my Gymboree class! Dr. Vu was very patient with me and she helped me find my very first pair of frames. She won't be seeing me as a patient, but we liked her so much that mommy and daddy are going to see her for their next visit! (If you're looking for a really good optometrist, ask mommy for Dr. Vu's info, k?)
Ever since I got my glasses, mommy & daddy have been trying to wear their glasses as much as possible to convince me that glasses are super cool! I am still struggling to keep them on for long periods of time but I'm sure I will get used to them...eventually. ^_^
Mommy & Daddy seemed to be a little bummed at first when they found out that I needed glasses at such a young age. But now, mommy always tells me that if near-sightedness is the only issue that I have, then so be it! They are happy that I am super healthy and growing up to be a big boy!! Wearing glasses will just make me look older & cooler!! Join the club!! =)

Does this make me look smarter? =)
