My yummy birthday cake! "Paradise Delight"...mmmmm!
So the BIG day came...and went. Dinosaurs and Lakers colors everywhere! My first birthday was a blast thanks to all my close friends and family who came to celebrate with me! I still can't believe how many people came to share this special day with me!! You all have been there for me, mommy & daddy since day one. We are very blessed to have you all in our lives!
Although I turned ONE, I am still an adjusted age of 8 months. But for my adjusted age, I'm doing pretty darn well!! Mommy and daddy remind me everyday how far I've come along...from the tiny little 1lb 12oz-er that I was exactly a year ago, to the almost 20-pounder chunkster that I am today. (I weigh as much as a big rice bag...try carrying THAT around the house all day!! hehehehe)

Exactly a year ago from yesterday, mommy had an emergency C-section and gave birth to me at only 24 weeks into her pregnancy. The scariest day of her life, she tells me. It was definitely a day of reflection for mommy and daddy today. Mommy wanted to show everyone at the party how this past year has been for me, so she put together a month-by-month picture collage of my life thus far. It showed pictures of me on a ventilator, my recovery after my multiple surgeries, my tiny little body in the isolette, my homecoming after 159 days in the NICU, and so on and so on. A lot of people who see me today still can't believe that I was born at 24 weeks. I probably wouldn't believe it either!!!
Again, I just want to thank everyone for supporting me throughout this past year and I hope that you will continue to be a part of my life. Mommy and daddy are lucky to have you all in their lives as well. Special thanks to Lolo Joe, Lola Tes & the Yanagi family for always being there for me, mommy & daddy. To all my other family and friends...Thank you for making my first birthday AWESOME and memorable! I hope to see you all again soon!

Happy Birthday little man. It's so cool that your parents invited the nurses from the ICU. It shows what down to earth good people they must be.
